Bio
Layan is a doctoral candidate in clinical psychology at Adler University in Chicago, where she is completing her final year of training. At United Stand Family Center's Bilingual Center, she conducted comprehensive psychological testing with cases involving autism, ADHD, learning disorders, anxiety, depression, and trauma. Through her therapy work at AMS Wellness and the University of Chicago's Student Wellness, she supported clients navigating grief, trauma, depression, anxiety, and related concerns. Layan works with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families, centering each client's needs through a social justice lens with particular care for marginalized and diaspora communities. She draws on feminist and systems frameworks to understand the larger context shaping a person's life, family, community, culture, and the systems they move through, rather than viewing struggles in isolation. Her clinical work is trauma-informed and culturally responsive, and she aims to offer a warm, non-judgmental space where clients feel seen, respected, and supported in their healing.
Layan believes that healing happens in relationship and that every client deserves to feel seen, respected, and understood. She works collaboratively, meeting each person where they are and honoring the strengths, resilience, and cultural wisdom they bring to the work. Her goal is to create space for clients to make sense of their experiences, reconnect with what matters to them, and move toward the lives they want to live.
