Biography

Humna Ali is an Associate Social Worker with a Masters in Social Work from California State University, Northridge. Her experience includes working with women experiencing co-occurring substance use and mental health challenges at Didi Hirsch Mental Health Services. She also worked with LA Family Housing and provided assistance to people experiencing homelessness and worked with them to address issues surrounding family, depression, anxiety, financial stress, and much more. Her most recent experience was with Path Mental Health where she helped in developing different aspects of the company to ensure easy access to mental health care for those with private insurance (i.e. through their employment). It was at Path, that Humna realized the lack of Muslim women providers in the community.

Her goal at Khalil Center is to work towards erasing the stigma surrounding mental health treatment and normalizing the process. She also hopes to provide a familiar face to those accessing treatment and address all factors of life (environmental, religion, and culture). Her education and experience allow her to approach clients in a manner that highlights individual and community strengths. Humna aspires to provide a judgment-free environment in which people from all walks of life can work towards healing themselves. She also hopes to provide education to the Muslim community at large in order to combat stigma and shame and provide a safe space for community healing.
