Biography
Dr. Elzamzamy brings a thoughtful understanding of culture, faith, and ethics to his work as a child and adolescent psychiatrist at Kennedy Krieger Institute’s Center for Developmental Behavioral Health. He also serves as an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
His training spans Egypt, Qatar, and the United States; from medical school at Ain Shams University and a psychiatry residency at Hamad Medical Corporation to child and adolescent psychiatry training at the Institute of Living/Hartford Hospital and a Clinician-Educator Fellowship at Johns Hopkins. He also holds a master’s degree in Applied Islamic Ethics and previously worked as a research assistant at Yale University.
His scholarly interests center on how culture and religion shape mental health, particularly in relation to suicide, alongside clinical ethics and the integration of spirituality into care. He actively contributes to national organizations dedicated to supporting the mental health of American Muslim communities.
