Job Purpose

Khalil Center is seeking a Licensed Clinical Psychologist to serve as Director of Clinical Training. This role is responsible for leading and maintaining Khalil Center’s clinical training and internship program for graduate-level trainees, including master’s and doctoral students, while also providing direct clinical services to clients.

The Director of Clinical Training oversees all aspects of the trainee experience, including recruitment, on boarding, orientation, supervision, evaluation, remediation, and coordination with academic training programs. This position ensures that trainees receive clinically sound, ethical, developmentally appropriate, and culturally responsive training within a spiritually integrated mental health setting.

The ideal candidate is an experienced clinician, supervisor, and training leader who is committed to maintaining a structured, high-quality training environment and contributing to broader clinical leadership within the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities

The following are the primary day-to-day responsibilities for this position. These are not exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. During your shift, not to exceed 8 hours per day, you will be responsible for the following responsibilities:

Clinical Training and Internship Program:

  •  Direct and maintain Khalil Center’s clinical training and internship program for graduate-level trainees, including master’s and doctoral students.

  • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, orientation, supervision, evaluation, and remediation processes for trainees.

  •  Coordinate clinical placements, training schedules, supervision assignments, seminars, and trainee expectations.

  • Maintain training policies, procedures, manuals, forms, competency evaluations, and documentation systems.

  • Ensure the training program meets relevant ethical, legal, institutional, and professional standards

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for trainees, supervisors, academic programs, and external training partners.

  • Monitor trainee progress, clinical competence, professionalism, documentation quality, and readiness for increased clinical responsibility.

  • Develop and refine didactic seminars, case consultation structures, and clinical training experiences.

  • Support supervisors in providing consistent, developmental, and competency-based supervision.

  • Address trainee performance concerns through structured feedback, remediation planning, and documentation.

Clinical Supervision:

  • Provide individual and/or group supervision to graduate-level trainees.

  • Review clinical documentation, treatment plans, diagnostic impressions, risk assessments, and case conceptualizations.

  • Support trainees in culturally responsive, ethically sound, and clinically effective practice.

  • Promote integration of evidence-based clinical care with Khalil Center’s culturally and spiritually responsive model.

Direct Clinical Services:

  • Maintain a direct clinical caseload.

  • Provide psychotherapy to individuals, couples, families, or groups, depending on experience and organizational needs.

  • Complete clinical documentation in accordance with professional, legal, and organizational standards.

  • Participate in case consultations, clinical meetings, and risk-management discussions.

Leadership and Program Development:

  •  Collaborate with clinical and organizational leadership to strengthen training quality and service delivery.

  • Contribute to policies related to supervision, documentation, trainee evaluation, client care, and clinical risk management.

  • Assist with quality assurance and continuous improvement of clinical training systems.

  • Represent Khalil Center professionally with universities, training programs, and community partners.

Other:

• Perform all other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

Required

  • Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, or a closely related field.

  • Current and active licensure as a Clinical Psychologist in the State of Illinois.

  • Experience providing clinical supervision to graduate-level trainees.

  • Strong knowledge of ethics, diagnosis, treatment planning, documentation, supervision, risk assessment, and clinical training standards.

  • Demonstrated ability to organize, maintain, and improve clinical training systems.

  • Commitment to culturally responsive care and professional training.

  • Familiarity with Islamic theology, customs, rituals, and rules.

  • Must be willing to successfully complete and pass a comprehensive background screening check.

Preferred

  • Prior experience as a Director of Clinical Training, Training Director, Assistant Training Director, Internship Director, Practicum Coordinator, or comparable training leadership role.

  • Knowledge of APA, APPIC, CACREP, COAMFTE, or comparable clinical training standards.

  • Experience maintaining internship, practicum, externship, or postdoctoral training programs.

  • Experience working with Muslim, immigrant, refugee, or culturally diverse communities.

  • Familiarity with spiritually integrated psychotherapy or willingness to receive training in Khalil Center’s model of care.

  • Experience with community mental health, outpatient psychotherapy, trauma, family systems, couples therapy, youth, or severe mental health concerns.

  • Bilingual or multilingual ability is a plus.

Compensation

  • Khalil Center offers a competitive salary, commensurate with experience, qualifications, licensure, supervisory responsibility, and clinical role expectations.

  • This position is exempt and full-time.
