Biography
With over two decades of leadership experience in community service and non-profit management, Faiza J. Ghafoor brings with her a wealth of knowledge and expertise. She holds both an LLB and LLM in Law from the UK, where she began her career managing racial and sexual harassment cases under the Racial and Sexual Discrimination Act.
Most recently, as Executive Director of the North American Islamic Shelter for the Abused (NISA) in the San Francisco Bay Area, Faiza transformed community outreach through strategic initiatives and comprehensive facility management. Her leadership was recognized by the Congressman for outstanding service and community contribution.
Fluent in Urdu, Hindi, and Punjabi, she has a unique ability to communicate and connect with multicultural communities. Her professional journey is marked by a commitment to social justice, evidenced by her work managing racial and sexual harassment cases and her certification as a Domestic Violence advocate. Faiza's approach integrates her legal background, community development skills, and a deep passion for mental health support.
A recipient of the Boy Scouts Trailblazer Award and an active board member of the Rahima Foundation, Faiza continues to demonstrate her dedication to community service. Her work at Khalil Center focuses on expanding access to culturally sensitive mental health resources, building strategic partnerships, and creating supportive spaces that honor the intersection of mental health, cultural identity, and spiritual well-being.
When not working, Faiza enjoys traveling, hiking, reading, and gardening - activities that reflect her holistic approach to personal and community wellness.
