A Guided View at a Muslim Girl’s Journey to Becoming a Woman

A series of Khalil Center Workshops for girls, teens and young women to increase their understanding of the role of a Muslimah by identifying healthy and positive conceptions of their identity and by learning skills to build confidence and self awareness. Workshops will be led by Sema Syed, LCSW

Workshop One: Journey To Young Womanhood

This Khalil Center workshop for young Muslim women will focus on building a healthy self-image and positive mindset for her future. We will discuss understanding boundaries and healthy relationships, and why these things are important prior to marriage. For ages 16+ this class requires a debrief session with at least one parent/guardian for girls under 18, optional for 18 and older.

Workshop Two: Safeguarding Our Modesty

This is a workshop focused on the Islamic perspective of Sex Education for Muslim girls. This workshop will introduce an Islamic perspective of relationships and how Islam upholds positive interactions within the confines of marriage. Designed for ages 13-15y or by level of maturity. This class requires a pre/post session with at least 1 parent/guardian.

Workshop Three: Coming of Age

This Khalil Center workshop will cover a young girl’s journey into becoming a responsible young Muslimah as she approaches puberty including her new role and responsibilities. This workshop is designed for ages 9-12y. This class requires a pre/post session with at least one parent/guardian.
