By the grace of Allah, Moulana Shahbaz studied the traditional Islamic sciences under Mufti Abdullah Nana for five years. After completing his university studies, Moulana Shahbaz traveled to New York where he spent one year furthering his Islamic studies at Darul Uloom New York. He completed his Islamic studies at Madrasa Arabia Islamia in South Africa where he attained Ijazah (certification) in the six major canonical books of Ahadith: Sahih Bukhari, Sahih Muslim, Sunan Abu Dawood, Jami Al-Tirmidhi, Sunan An-Nasa’i, Sunan Ibn Majah, and other major works such Muwatta, Sharh Ma’ani Al Athar, and Tafsir Baidawi.
Moulana Shahbaz seeks to combine the knowledge he has learned from the sacred Islamic sciences with the knowledge he has attained from the fields of psychology and counseling in order to deliver spiritual and effective counseling to his clients.
Moulana Shahbaz has a background working with individuals struggling with depression, suicidal ideation, relationship problems, anxiety, substance abuse and many other mental health issues.
He also has experience conducting therapy with teens and young adults with a variety of needs and issues such as family conflict, substance abuse, peer pressure, stress, and other various concerns and challenges. He has a tremendous desire and passion in helping young people gain the support that they need in order to grow and develop as healthy individuals.
Over a decade, he has volunteered in various masajid across the country and abroad, offering peer counseling and delivering lectures to Muslim youth with a variety of spiritual, emotional and social needs in order to help them connect themselves with their local masajid and grow as a part of the community.
