Modalities
Working from within a TIIP (Traditional Islamically Integrated Psychotherapy) model, he emphasizes a psychodynamic and interpersonal approach in his clinical work. This may practically look like focusing on the relationship between patient and therapist to explore unconscious beliefs affecting personality, relationships, and symptoms. The way in which someone may present in therapy may help to understand how they may struggle with relationships and life outside of the therapy room. Accessing the information that is present “in-the-here-and-now” can be a powerful way to learn about the self and experientially affect change. In addition to this, he incorporates dialectical and behavioral strategies of intervention as well as mindfulness and solution-focused techniques. In sum he aims to create an environment that explores how language, identity, personality, and values, all evolve through narrative, relationships, and early childhood experiences. On top of constantly deepening his skillset clinically, he is also pursuing education in the foundational Islamic sciences at Darul Qasim college through their Shaykh al-Hind program.
